Set up taxes

Create the taxes your business uses before assigning them to products. This article explains the global FreshlyCart settings, not country-specific tax or invoicing requirements.

Before you begin

Confirm the tax name, rate, and price treatment that apply to your business. FreshlyCart does not determine which taxes you are required to charge.

Create a tax

1. In Back Office, go to Settings → Taxes.
2. Open the action to create a tax. The form is titled Create new tax.
3. Enter a Name that employees can identify.
4. Enter the Tax Rate %. The form accepts a value up to 100.
5. For Type, choose whether the tax is Added to the price or Included in the price.
6. Use Option only if you want FreshlyCart to apply the tax automatically to new products, existing products, or both.
7. Select Save.

Assign a tax to a product

Open the product in Back Office, choose the applicable entries under Taxes, and select Save. A product can have more than one tax selected.

Caution

Changing a tax or its product assignments can change sale totals. Confirm the intended treatment before using the updated configuration for sales.
