Close a cash drawer and review the result
Close a Drawer after counting the cash in the register, then compare actual cash with the expected result.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- Complete every sale held by the current Drawer. FreshlyCart blocks closing while open orders remain.
- Record any Pay-in or Pay-out before counting.
- Count the physical cash in the register. You need access to cash-drawer management.
Close the Drawer
Section titled “Close the Drawer”- Open the POS navigation menu and select Cash Drawer.
- Select End Drawer.
- Enter the counted cash amount.
- Select End Drawer again.
- In Drawer Close Confirmation, review the prompt and select Confirm.
FreshlyCart closes the Drawer under the signed-in employee, stores the actual cash, and compares it with expected cash. Expected cash includes starting cash, recorded cash sales, refunds that affect the Drawer, and Pay-ins and Pay-outs.
Review the result
Section titled “Review the result”- Immediately after closing, review the Drawer summary in POS. It includes starting cash, ending cash, and the displayed variance.
- To review a previous result in POS, open Cash Drawer and select the history icon, then select the Drawer.
- In Back Office, select Cash Drawers. Use the location and date filters, then open a Drawer to review expected and actual cash, the short amount, payments, sales, Pay-ins, and Pay-outs.
Closing a Drawer does not sign the employee out. If the business requires an open Drawer for selling, start another one before the next sale.
