Configure printer profiles and routing

Printer profiles define which customer receipts and printed order tickets FreshlyCart POS sends to each configured printer. Use them to route jobs such as receipts to the cashier printer and product categories to a kitchen or bar printer.

  • Set up and test each printer in every POS installation that will print.
  • Create the product categories you need before using category-based ticket routing.
  • Printer-to-profile assignments are stored on the POS installation. Repeat the assignment on each POS device that should print.
  1. In FreshlyCart Back Office, go to Settings → Printer Profiles.
  2. Select New Printer Profile.
  3. Enter a Profile Name, such as Kitchen or Bar.
  4. Under What should this profile print?, turn on at least one job:
    • Receipts routes customer receipts and transaction slips. Set Copies per receipt.
    • Register order tickets routes printed tickets for orders placed at the register.
    • Online order tickets routes printed tickets for online, kiosk, or QR orders.
  5. If the profile prints order tickets, set Copies per ticket.
  6. Under Categories to print, select the product categories this ticket profile should receive. A ticket profile with no selected categories acts as a catch-all for items that do not match another category-specific profile.
  7. Under Printing Behavior, choose whether to group identical items, print one item per ticket, or use compact tickets.
  8. Under Where should items print?, select the applicable Dine-in orders, Takeout orders, and Delivery orders.
  9. Select Save.

The order-type filters in step 8 describe the current mobile/tablet FreshlyCart POS behavior. FreshlyCart’s public platform policy does not yet establish identical order-type filtering for every POS client.

  1. Sync FreshlyCart POS so the new profile is available.
  2. Go to Settings → Printers.
  3. Select an existing, active printer.
  4. Under Printing Assignments, select Manage Assignments.
  5. In Select Printer Profiles, select each profile this printer should receive, then close the list.
  6. Repeat these steps for other configured printers and POS installations as needed.

Assignments are saved on that POS installation. Assigning one profile to multiple printers sends its matching jobs to every assigned active printer. Assigning the same category to multiple profiles can also produce output from more than one printer.

  • Receipt profiles apply to the complete receipt; product-category selection does not filter receipt content.
  • Ticket profiles filter printed order lines by category and applicable order type.
  • A printer assigned to an active profile is excluded from Printer Job fallback routing. Active printers without profile assignments continue to use Printer Job, so an unassigned Cashier printer can still receive customer receipts.
  • Copies per receipt and Copies per ticket repeat the corresponding print job.

Printer routing does not change printer connection requirements or confirm model compatibility.
